Are There Any Free Courses Offered in Photography?

I am a research writer by profession. A few years back, as part of a regular exercise to enhance my skill portfolio, I decided to learn photography. I felt that it could be an added feather to my cap of existing achievements. I did set out on a mission to find an apt photography school. A photography school that will not wipe me off my years of savings as well as deliver the goods as promised. Did I find one? That is part of another story. 

However, there are a few key findings which I thought I need to share with people around so that you don’t end up committing the same set of mistakes that I did. For instance,

1) I highly recommend photography as a career path only for those with an artistic sense and see the beauty beyond what your eyes can see. (more…;)

Starting a Photography Business – Tips For Success

I’m often asked, what is the best way to start a photography business? The answer depends mainly on what area of photography you want to specialise in, or whether you want to be an ‘all rounder’.

You should be clear about this before you start. There is nothing more distracting to achievement of your goals than jumping constantly from one specialist area to another; you never quite make it at anything!

You need a business plan and goals and targets to work toward. Your aim should be to become competent in only 2 or 3 areas. You can choose between commercial photography, portraiture, wedding photography, pet photography, group photography and many more. (more…;)

Photography – An Art of Wisdom

Photography is a complex art which needs a lot of attention, and skills of thinking beyond the limits of normal human being. You need to put the best efforts into photography to come up with the best results. One can be a master of this art only after lots of practice and learning, but these two things are not enough to be a perfect photographer, you need to have passion for photography and to view the world behind the lens.

Photography is used to preserve memories of favorite times, to capture special moments, to tell stories, to send messages, and as a source of entertainment. It has been called both an art and a science. It is an art form not unlike painting. A career in photography is often chosen because of its lifestyle and creative outlet. Photography is probably the most influential medium of the modern era.

Ways We Use Photography

Glamour photography is popular in advertising and in men’s magazines. Street photography is a type of documentary photography that usually features people in candid situations in public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions, and other settings. The unique thing about still photography is that it forces you to stop, it forces you to think. Food photography is similar to still life photography, but requires some special skills. Nature photography is a rewarding experience for the photographer and also for the people who get to view the results. Aerial photography is used today as a source to collect a wide variety of information, including the location of transportation routes, streams, lakes, and the outlines of buildings and farm fields. Out of the various styles of photography recognized today, sports photography is favored most, probably for the thrill and excitement associated with it.
